When we saw this ‘Kinetic Pavement’, we thought you’d be as fascinated as we are. In the future we’ll be able to generate electricity just by walking along the pavement. Now that’s smart technology.

London-based startup Pavegen has developed a special energy-harvesting tile that will turn footsteps into electricity.

As people step on the tiles, their weight causes electromagnetic induction generators to vertically displace, which results in off-grid electricity. Additionally each tile is equipped with a wireless API that transmits real-time movement data analystics.

Pavegen have completed over 150 projects around the world, across various sectors including train stations, shopping centres, airports and public spaces.

An amazing example of how innovation and technology can create smarter solutions.  And that’s something we at Tunbridge Wells Alliance would love to see within the borough.
